Recently I took my very first road trip with the kids and it was one heck of an adventure! Technically I drove back home to Baltimore on July 2nd but it was to celebrate with family at my aunts annual 4th of July block party. What normally would take 6 hours ended up being an 8 hour drive. When traveling with 3 kids, a baby and a GRANDMA you have to factor in BREAKS. We took our very first break at the VA state line rest stop. The kids were able to stretch their legs and play on the playground for a few. We even had a nice family take our pic in from of the Welcome to Virginia sign. Stopping again to eat at Apple Bees, lots of rain and traffic we finally made it to Baltimore for the cookout!
Thankfully we had our own chairs in the car because they have been in the car since soccer season! Sunday I wanted to make it all about the kids. They did so well durning the car ride up even with the extra 2 and 1/2 hours added onto our trip. So we started our day with some Ms. Shirley’s for brunch.
I absolutely had to have the chicken and waffles! It’s something about the cheese on the waffles that gets me every time.
After brunch the kiddos and I headed to Port Discovery I knew they were in for a treat, and I couldn’t wait to share some memories with them.
In true Mommarazzi form, I made them take pics before entering lol
Once they were inside it was a different story. They had a BALL!!!!
We literally stayed there for 4 hours, and we still didn’t get to see everything. After Port Discovery we finished visiting family so that we could hit the road in the AM. I really wish that I had cameras installed in the van during this adventure. I think that will be my new goal when traveling with the family. I want to truly document all of the adventure with them because they are growing so fast. I am so thankful that our van has the DVD package it helps keep the kids entertained especially during long trips. We made it back home Monday just in time for me to go to work… yes I went to work after driving from Baltimore to NC. I’m starting to agree with everyone else, maybe I am superhuman. Until next time……
Last Monday the kids (minus Jagger) and I enjoyed a wonderful staycation at the Kimpton Cardinal Hotel here in downtown Winston. Since opening, we have driven by the hotel on a daily basis during Elle’s commute to school. Since one of my friends has an apartment in the building I was able to get a little inside look at this amazing establishment. I’ve heard so many great things about the Kimpton properties like having a gold fish in your room, cool record players and so much more. Upon arrival we were greeted with the craziest rain storm which lead to utilizing their amazing valet service. Once we made it inside the kids enjoyed a refreshing cup of apple infused water.
In true Harrell form the first thing the kids wanted to do when they got to the room was too “test” out the beds with the ultimate jump party.
The beds passed the test and were baby Axel approved! Since it was raining so much we opted to stay indoors and order pizza as well as enjoyed some awesome amenities the hotel had to offer like an adult size “playground” that was equipped with a 2 story tunnel slide.
Finding the the slide was the highlight of our evening. As you can see Maveric truly enjoyed this, it was a 4 year old’s dream. In addition to the slide we were able to go bowling, some how Maveric ended up beating Elle. The adult playground was a total life saver with the storm we had going on outside, they were able to have the time of their lives on the inside.
Here are some of the amenities of the hotel :
- Complimentary Wi-Fi for Kimpton Karma Rewards guests
- Pet-friendly accommodations free of weight and size restrictions and no additional fees
- Nightly hosted evening wine hour from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.
- In-room dining from The Katharine Sunday-Thursday until 10 PM + Friday-Saturday until 11 PM
- A yoga mat in every guest room and yoga mat roll-out service available upon request
- In-room spa services for private, full-service day spa services
- 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center
- Bowling alley, basketball, ping pong and more in the lower level recreation center
- Complimentary morning coffee and tea
- Essential travel items, available upon request
We will definitely be staying again, the only thing we did not have was the gold fish I requested. Unfortunately they died before our arrival but we were told that they “should” have new ones by the time we stayed. That request fell through but the staff and the hotel gets 4 stars in our books. Until next time….

Tomorrow officially starts the month of JUNE!!! I can not believe we are ALMOST halfway through the year 2017 has been moving. There are so many amazing memories that I have created but the most memorable by far was giving birth to the newest member of the #HWTH crew Axel Roman. June is my favorite month because I get to celebrate with my first born ElleMari and with Mommy ( may she rest in peace).
This year I’m celebrating the big 3-6 and I’ve decided to compile a list of gifts I’m loving, this is not normal for me. I love surprises but this year I am thinking it’s easier to just let people know what you really want so that I can get things I will use. As moms we are so used to buying for our kids, or seeing what they “need” or should I say WANT?! This time, I’m thinking about myself andI’m not ashamed to say it!!! Dear Momma’s LOVE YOURSELF because when you love yourself you can LOVE your family as much as they deserve!
Now that my spill is over show me the GOOIDES!!!!! :
- What can I say, this is pretty easy and it fits everyones budget! You absolutely can’t go wrong with Target, MAC, Panera, Chic Fil A, TJ Maxx or Chipotle!
- Because I’ve been trying to read more, and I LOVED the first book check out my book list here , I have to get my hands on this new book by Jen Sincero! Snag your own copy here and let me know how you like it.
- I’m a sucker for cool pink things so I just have to have this glass water bottle by BKR I’ve also been digging white. Shop here you’ll love it!
- Since starting my blog, I’ve really need to keep my camera on me so having a cool camera bag that also doubles as a purse is on my list! I love this cute number by Jo Totes
- It’s sumer and you have to have a nice pair of white shoes, my choice for myself and my family are Chuck Taylors! White goes with everything and it’s a staple for summer.
- I have been wanting a record player since forever!!! So I figured I’d give it one more shot before I just purchase it myself HA! Crosley has a ton of affordable ones and Amazon has amazing prices!
- Last but not least, I want a new band for my Iwatch! I have the rose gold so anything that compliments it will do, also I hear Groupon has awesome deal.
Well that about sums up my list, I figured it’s pretty affordable and I can eliminate the guessing game! So what do you think? Do you have any of the products above? Are you loving them?! Oh and in case you’re wondering, my birthday is June 17th. Until next time…
For the past week and a half I have been asking myself “What season is THIS?” We have literally gone from fall, to spring, summer sun and back to monsoon week just recently. With all of this bipolar weather I haven’t even had a chance to think about the fact that my favorite season is right around the corner!
School is about to be out for SUMMER!!!! Seriously in a matter of days we will be halfway through the year. Time is moving by and this makes me want to hold on to as many memories as possible. Just thinking about how fast my kids are growing makes me so emotional. I want to share 11 things I’m doing with the crew this summer:
- Strawberry picking
- Enjoy a Staycation
- Visit the Zoo
- Sit on the porch and indulge in a fruit salad
- Enjoy a movie outdoors
- Take a trip to the beach
- Have dinner at the park
- Plant flowers
- Visit the farmers market
- Make your own lemonade
- Make tie-dye tees
Well this is my to do list this summer! What plans do you have for the family? I try to set small goals and anything else is icing on the cake! In the mean time I’m enjoying these pictures to remind myself of how much I can not wait until summer is here!
Until next time….
Sunday I was on a mission to make it to church on time! I haven’t been to church since having Axel so Saturday night I made up my mind that we were going to church in the morning. I set my alarm clock so that I had enough time wake up, nurse Axel, do my hair, do Elle’s hair, get all 3 boys dressed, grab some breakfast on the go for the kiddos, hop in the car and make it to church ON TIME! That was my goal Saturday night… fast forward to Sunday morning!
I woke up at 7:30 and drifted back to sleep some how then I woke up again at 9am, thanks to my back up “get yourself together so you can leave the house” alarm. Church started at 10 and by the time I did everything I mentioned above it was 10:10. Ummmm I’m not sure how that happened but I told the kid’s there was no point in going to church now because we would get there at 10:30 and that’s not cool. But for some reason I decided to look on Instagram and there was my sign… Church didn’t start until 10:30!!!!!
Well needless to say Momma we MADE IT, on time and the kids enjoyed themselves. See I almost gave up, but this time social media came through in our favor. We even managed to have an impromptu photo sesh afterwards #winning.
Well that was my Sunday summed up! How do you get your squad ready, out the door and on time? Until next time…
Friday I had the opportunity to experience a Yoni Steam, if you haven’t heard of this it’s pretty much a steam treatment for your vagina. As a push gift, my husband purchased the steam at Ma’ati Spa you can learn more here . I headed to the downtown location and was greeted by Martha, she was super sweet and welcoming.
Things started off a little rocky, for some reason the spa had me down for a massage instead of the Yoni steam ( no sweat, a simple mix up) this actually gave me an opportunity to check out the herb garden where she picked the herbs for my steam.
I even spotted a few yoni eggs during the brief tour. This was pretty cool, being able to see first hand the actual herbs being used in the process. Once everything was set up she explained the process and offered me a rob as well as a blanket for the experience.
The process was quit interesting, the most important thing about it is making sure you find your “sweet spot” you have to remember just how sensitive our lady parts are so sitting right on the bench is not the best thing to do. I recommend you slowly lowering yourself over the center of the bench to allow yourself to adjust if needed. Once you’re comfortable you need to trap in the steam with the blankets for the next 30-45 mins. This experience was very relaxing, I even did a live Instagram story during the process HA!
The steam has so many benefits such as cleansing, assisting with menstrual cycles, fertility, anxiety the list goes on and on! Even though this seems to be a new trend, it’s actually been around for centuries. I personally plan on getting another steam as well as trying some DIY techniques. I would recommend you experiencing a spa service as well as trying a DIY steam which you can find on Pinterest. Have you incorporated yoni steams into to your self care regiment? If so what herbal blends do you use? I’m thinking a quarterly steam will do my body good! Until next time…
